Brushstrokes of Peace Kanakapura Leo Club celebrates young talent

Colours danced across blank sheets as 1,600 young artists enthusiastically participated in the 40th Taluk Level Peace Poster Competition organized by the Kanakapura Leo Club of District 317A. Armed with colour pencils, crayons and boundless imagination, the students shared their vision of peace and harmony, environmental stewardship and their dream school. The event was organized on November 9, 2024 as part of the Children’s Day celebrations.

The celebrations continued with a Fancy Dress Competition on November 23, 2024. Mythology met modern day as 130 children transformed the stage into a living gallery. Historical figures came alive, mythological characters stepped out of ancient texts, and even nature found representation as participants transformed into their chosen characters.

It was not an easy task for the judges comprising reputed artists and educators to select the winners from this talented lot. While prizes were awarded to the most outstanding entries in both competitions, every participant received a certificate of recognition, ensuring every child felt valued.

Now in its fourth decade, the Peace Poster and Fancy Dress Competition has become an important part of Kanakapura’s cultural calendar, drawing participants from across the taluk.

The combination of art and advocacy, imagination and impact, showcased how the next generation envisions peace. Through their brushstrokes and performances, these children demonstrated that creativity knows no bounds when peace is the canvas.
