New Dialysis Centre Eases Treatment Burden for Mettupalayam’s Kidney Patients

For kidney patients in and around Mettupalayam, regular dialysis can be as much a financial challenge as a medical one. A newly established dialysis centre at Surya Hospital aims to ease that burden, providing affordable treatment for patients who might otherwise struggle to access the care they need.

The unit was jointly sponsored by District 3241D, Welcare, and Krishnasamy Premleela Trust, and Lions Clubs of Mettupalayam and Annur Town. Equipped with advanced dialysis machines, the air-conditioned facility expands access to quality dialysis services for economically disadvantaged patients across the region.

The centre was formally inaugurated by District Governor R. Dinakaran PMJF, on May 29, 2026, in the presence of PID G. Ramasamy, Past District Governors Narathanmal Shankla and R. Mohankumar, and other dignitaries.

According to hospital management, the facility has been designed with both comfort and care in mind. Alongside modern dialysis equipment and comfortable treatment beds, it includes a dedicated area for younger patients. Bright murals of pandas, giraffes and little blue elephants transform the room into a friendlier space, helping ease the anxiety of children undergoing long dialysis sessions.

The sponsors thanked the donors, supporters and healthcare professionals whose contributions made the project possible. Expected to benefit numerous patients every year, the new centre adds much-needed dialysis capacity for Mettupalayam and neighbouring communities while bringing life-sustaining treatment closer to those who need it most.
