One hundred water coolers. Five diagnostic machines. A healthcare program designed to reach close to one lakh construction workers… For District 3232-F1, Lions year 2025–2026 brought together projects of considerable scale—all tracing back to a promise made to International President A. P. Singh on August 3, 2025.
Under its water access initiative, the district installed 100 water coolers with purification systems in Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) and NGO-run schools. Each unit cost approximately ₹50,000. With corporate support, another 25 units were inaugurated on June 30, 2026, taking the total number to 125 and the project value to approximately ₹62.50 lakh.
The district also conducted eye screening for 20,000 students across 100 schools and distributed spectacles to those identified with refractive errors.
Healthcare formed another major area of intervention. An MoU between VMC, Deepak Foundation, District 3232-F1 and CREDAI established a program offering chest X-rays, blood tests, eye examinations, breast cancer screening and mammography to construction workers. Designed to reach close to one lakh workers, the initiative has an estimated value of ₹3.5 crore. Member of Parliament Dr. Hemang Joshi and MLA Balkrishna Shukla inaugurated the program alongside CREDAI office-bearers. As its opening phase, the district launched health check-ups for 12,000 construction workers.
Supporting India’s TB elimination mission, the district distributed nutrition kits worth ₹35 lakh to TB patients with CSR funding. An LCIF matching grant enabled the installation of five Truenat machines, valued at ₹55 lakh, at community health centres serving rural and tribal areas of Vadodara district. The machines will strengthen access to timely TB diagnosis in communities where such facilities are often limited.
The district extended its efforts to entrepreneurship through a Startup Summit organised in partnership with the Baroda Management Association (BMA). The summit attracted investment commitments worth ₹32 crore. Union Minister for Jal Shakti C. R. Patil, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Harsh Sanghvi and seven IAS officers attended, reflecting its strong institutional reach.
With clubs across the district participating, District Governor Surana turned his promise into measurable action—improving access to clean drinking water, expanding healthcare in underserved communities and creating new opportunities for enterprise.
