From November 1 to 13, 2024 the Lions Community Centre in Ramnagar, Visakhapatnam came alive with the sounds of laughter, cheerful chatter and shouts of happiness. The centre also became a stage for the diverse talents of 1,500 students from across the city’s schools, who participated in the 56th Children’s Day Competitions. The fortnight-long celebrations were hosted by Visakhapatnam Lions Club of District 316A.

Students from grades 5 to 10 competed in art, quiz, chess, classical singing, and folk dance competitions. Young scientists proudly displayed their projects while storytellers and speakers captivated the audience with their creativity and confidence. The competitions, split into junior and senior categories, brought out the best in every participant.
The event culminated with a valedictory function on November 14, 2024 at the club’s premises. The winners from junior and senior categories walked up proudly to the dais to receive medals, certificates, and motivational books. Visakha Valley School emerged as the overall champion, with Little Angels School securing the runner-up position.
“This event has become an integral part of our annual calendar,” shared Club President M. Kishore Gupta. “We look forward to continuing this tradition and providing a platform for children to showcase their talents and skills.”

The club’s commitment to community service extended beyond youth activities that day. Early on November 14, over 200 members walked Beach Road carrying eye-catching banners and informative leaflets. The 2.5-kilometer walkathon spread awareness about diabetes, its risks, and the importance of healthy living. Participants later gathered for a nutritious breakfast, discussing ways to reach more people with their health message.
The two initiatives highlighted the club’s dedication to both youth empowerment and public health education, touching the lives of nearly 2,000 community members in a single day.
