Since opening its doors in 2000, Lions Hospital, Kopar Khairane has cared for more than 25 lakh patients. The figure reflects more than the number of people treated. It reflects the confidence generations of families have placed in a hospital that has consistently combined quality healthcare with affordability. Managed by elected Lion members through the Lions Service Fund, District 3231-A2, the hospital entered a new phase of growth during Lions Year 2025–26 under the leadership of Chairperson Surinder Sharma and Managing Trustees Basantraj Mehta and Rajnikant Shah.
The Trust acquired additional land behind the existing hospital, where construction is now underway. The new facilities will enable the relocation of the Outpatient Department, Physiotherapy Centre, Dental, Radiology and Pathology departments to larger and more patient-friendly premises. This expansion will also create space for establishing a state-of-the-art Cath Lab and CT Scan Centre, enhancing advanced cardiac and diagnostic services.
Inside the existing hospital, the year brought equally significant improvements. The Operation Theatre Complex was renovated to meet NABH standards, with advanced HEPA filtration systems enhancing infection control and surgical safety. A new Arthroscopy System has expanded the hospital’s orthopaedic capabilities, allowing minimally invasive procedures to be performed in-house. In the Dialysis Department, 14 Fresenius machines provide around 1,500 free dialysis sessions every month under the MJPJAY scheme — a vital lifeline for economically disadvantaged patients.
The hospital’s ophthalmic services also received a major boost through support from the B.J. Modi Foundation, facilitated by District Governor Feroze Katrak of District 3231-A2. The donation funded a ZEISS Operating Microscope and an IOL Master Machine, improving the precision of cataract diagnosis and surgery and helping deliver better outcomes for patients requiring vision care.
Alongside these infrastructure projects, plans are underway to introduce allied healthcare training programs for technicians and nursing assistants, helping prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals. Alongside this, the hospital is developing an Elderly Care and Medical Support Centre to provide specialized services for senior citizens while responding to the needs of an ageing population.
The hospital also secured an important milestone for its long-term growth by emerging as the highest bidder in the CIDCO e-auction for a hospital plot in Kopar Khairane. The acquisition will support future expansion and strengthen its ability to serve the growing healthcare needs of the region.
