In a college computer lab in Visakhapatnam, Priya’s fingers moved confidently across the keyboard as she completed her first professional balance sheet using Tally software. Just three weeks earlier, she had never opened an accounting program.
“I was worried about my job prospects after graduation,” Priya confessed. “Now I’m developing skills employers actually want while still completing my degree.”
“Employers are increasingly focusing on graduates who possess soft skills like critical thinking, communication skills and learning agility.”

Visakhapatnam North East Lions Club of District 316A recognized a critical disconnect: graduating students lacked competencies that employers demanded. Committed as it is to youth empowerment, the club launched a targeted initiative across three colleges, providing comprehensive training in Tally software, Photoshop, and MS-Office.

In today’s highly competitive job market, technical proficiency alone isn’t enough. That’s why it’s important to integrate soft skills development—communication, teamwork, problem-solving—creating well-rounded professionals. And this is exactly what the Visakhapatnam North East Lions Club’s initiative aims to do.
The Tally Training covers crucial topics including Basic Accounting Principles, Inventory Management, Recording and filing of GST transactions within Tally, Payroll Management, Preparing and filing tax returns using Tally, Banking and Payment Management, etc.
Students are also trained in Communication and Leadership Skills, Teamwork and Collaboration, Problem-Solving, Critical Thinking and Adaptability, ensuring that the students are job-ready when they graduate.
As the first cohort completes the program, their success stories validate the program’s approach: targeted technical training combined with personal development creates pathways to employment, transforming frustrated job-seekers into confident professionals ready to contribute to India’s growing economy.
