Lions Clubs of MD 318 Respond Swiftly During The Wayanad Landslides
Forty-two young leaders gathered at Aadisaktthi Leisure Resort in Kovalam, Kerala for the three-day residentialLeo Leadership Camp of District 318A, aptly called Celestia ‘24. PID R Murugan, who inaugurated the camp on October 11, 2024, set an introspective tone, inviting participants to look at leadership beyond conventional narratives.
The experienced faculty members S. Sreenath and S. Arulnathexpanded on this theme,guiding Leos to re-imagine leadership. The camp was chaired by Leo District President Lekshmi S Kumar.
The first day focused on leadership fundamentals. S. Sreenath divided participants into five teams, challenging them to develop unique identities and strategic approaches. The teams quickly became microcosms of collaborative leadership engaging in a healthy competition for the top spot.
Communication expert S. Arulnath designed sessions that pushed participants to confront and overcome communication barriers. Multiple Leo Council President Vandhana Rajesh also offered her insights during the interactive sessions.
Structured learning was intertwined with interesting activities. A cultural program brought together district officials, parents, and District GovernorAbdul Vahab, weaving a supportive network around these emerging leaders. The day ended on a high note, with Leos gathering around the campfire and sharing their experiences.
On the final day, Leos participated in a career guidance session.PMCC K. Suresh’s closing remarks challenged them to view leadership as a continuous journey of growth and adaptation. As Celestia ’24 concluded, the Leos returned home convinced that leadership isn’t inherited or prescribed, but carefully cultivated through intentional learning, shared experiences, and mutual understanding.
