Creating Inspired Leaders
Lions of District 322F at IIM-Ahmedabad
John F. Kennedy once said: “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” And who can know this better than Lions? Our Association places great importance on learning and development at every stage. It’s this commitment to leadership excellence that recently inspired District 322F to break new ground. This September, the district became the first in India to host a Leadership Development Program at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA). Renowned for its world-class faculty and innovative approach, IIM Ahmedabad provided the perfect backdrop for this pioneering program.
The project gained momentum with Dr. Sanjib Kakoti’s appointment as Principal in December 2021. His enthusiastic backing gave a boost to the restoration efforts. Lions felt encouraged and visited the facility with Dr. Aditi Sharma, Professor and HOD, Pathology Department in the very same month. In January 2022, they invited Mr. Jayanta Sarma, the Secretary of the Heritage Conservation Society, Assam to visit Dibrugarh and give his inputs on the renovation strategy.
Over three days, 37 Lions from North Bengal immersed themselves in a curriculum carefully crafted to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as leaders, not only within the Lions organization, but also in their broader communities. The program, led by IIMA’s distinguished faculty, focused on critical areas such as strategic decision-making, team dynamics, and problem-solving; each session building upon the last to create a comprehensive learning experience.
The event culminated in a Valediction Ceremony, where participants received certificates acknowledging their successful completion of the program. The day concluded with a visit to Ahmedabad’s iconic Akshardham Temple, followed by a memorable dinner at Patang, the revolving restaurant, offering a panoramic view of the city to complement the reflections on the journey so far.
District Governor Dipak Agarwal’s support was instrumental in the success of this initiative.
The program represents a significant step forward in leadership training for Lions of District 322F, with the potential to inspire similar initiatives across India.
