District 322D Shows How Service Sparks Growth

On May 3, 2023 a sudden and violent ethnic crisis erupted in the northeastern state of Manipur, shattering decades of peaceful coexistence. The conflict forced over 60,000 people from their homes – from elderly grandparents to newborn babies. Families crowded into relief camps, struggling with dwindling supplies of food, water, and other basic necessities.

In response to this humanitarian crisis, Lions Clubs of District 322D across Manipur swiftly raised ₹5.35 lakhs for relief efforts. LCIF India strengthened these efforts with a generous contribution of Rs.12.33 lakhs (US$15,000).

Collaborative Action

The Lions of Manipur worked with local community leaders, youth volunteers, and district administration officials to identify those most severely impacted by the crisis. Together they reached 9,850 individuals, with 3,686 people receiving immediate, direct assistance when they needed it the most.

Building Stronger Together

As Lions worked in relief camps and communities, their presence made an impression; touching hearts and igniting action. Distribution events brought together people from all walks of life – some seeking help, others offering it. As word spread of their work, more people stepped forward to join the cause.

In the fiscal year 2024-2025 four new Lions Clubs were established in Manipur, adding 91 new eager-to-serve charter members.

During the toughest of times, the Lions of Manipur stood by their neighbours, proving again, that ‘Where there’s a need, there’s a Lion.’
