District 3234-D1 Opens Doors to Dialogue

At the heart of every community are moments when people pause to look out for one another. During the Mental Health and Well-being Week, this spirit was evident across District 3234-D1 as Lions focused on conversations, listening, and creating small pockets of reassurance for those who needed it. Classrooms, college halls, club venues, and old age homes became places where people could speak openly about stress, anxiety, and the pressures shaping daily life.

The week saw clubs across the district organize thoughtful and accessible programs—seminars, workshops, rallies, street plays, poster competitions, and interactive discussions. Though varied in form, each activity aimed to build awareness, deepen emotional understanding, and reassure people that support is always within reach.

The campaign began on October 4, 2025, at the Pharmacy College, Masur the Satara district of Maharashtra. More than 300 students from the physiotherapy, nursing, and pharmacy streams joined a rally that marked the start of the district-wide initiative. A special lecture by Dr. Tembe, along with a session for students of Standards 8 to 10 encouraged young participants to reflect on exam stress, anger management, screen-time balance, and emotional wellbeing—topics that often remain unspoken despite their impact. The event was organized by the Masur Lions Club.

Members of the club also visited a local old age home, spending time with 45 residents and strengthening connections often overlooked in fast-paced lives. Sessions on gentle exercise, yoga, meditation, and cultivating a positive mindset offered meaningful engagement for senior citizens. Masur Lions Club along with Karad Nakshatra Lions Club jointly conducted several programs during the week.

Lion Dr. Ramesh Lokhande, District Chairperson for Mental Health and Well-being, steered the program under the guidance of District Governor Dr. Virendra Chikhale MJF, PDG Jagdish Purohit PMJF, and DC GST Gauri Chavan MJF. Their leadership encouraged Lions Clubs of Sawarde, Phaltan Golden, Akkalkot, Chiplun, Karad City, Pandharpur Dream, Khed City, and Pandharpur to host inclusive community-focused initiatives.

Across the district, the week reaffirmed a simple truth: when people feel seen, heard, and supported, communities grow stronger—one conversation at a time.
