Editorial Note

Dear Fellow Lions,

Seventy years ago, two clubs. Today, there are approximately 10,000 clubs, serving communities across the country and the world. That arc, from a room in Bombay in 1956 to where we stand today, is the story we tell in this issue’s Cover Feature. But numbers, however impressive, only tell part of it.

What struck me most in putting this feature together was how personal Lionism in India remains — how it has always been carried forward by individuals who chose, without obligation, to make service a habit. From Noshir Pundole, who built the administrative foundations of a movement, to the Lions today who wear the lapel pin as both a statement of purpose and a mark of belonging — the thread is unbroken.

This issue is a celebration. It is also a reminder of how much further there is to go.
