Four Seasons of Impact: The Leo Trophy Story

Since 2022, members of the Hubballi Leo Club, District 317B have transformed cricket into something bigger than sport. For four consecutive seasons, their Leo Trophy has united youth while funding life-changing community initiatives.

It started modestly, with Rs.47,000 being raised for social service and distribution of free medicine distribution. In those early days, no one could have predicted how quickly the club’s vision would grow.

Season two saw friendships forged on the cricket field translate into Rs.1.20 lakhs for children fighting their toughest battles—cancer and malnutrition. Every run scored meant another child received care when they needed it most.

By the third season, their momentum was unstoppable. Rs.2.30 lakhs funded 46 cataract surgeries, helping people rediscover a world that had slowly faded from view.

However, it was the fourth season that was the most ambitious one. Under the guidance of President Leo Chirag Kalal, the team comprising Sushmita Kyasa, Aryan Hiregoudar (Event Chairperson), Parth Thakkar (Club Vice President), Prajwal Haravi (Co-Chairperson), and Terrence Irkal gave their all to make this season a truly outstanding one.

The objective was to raise funds for “Inspiring Mobility,” an initiative dedicated to providing prosthetic limbs and mobility aid to individuals with physical disabilities.

Through late nights planning and early mornings hustling, they secured Rs.2,35,000 from sponsors who believed in their vision.

The press meet that followed wasn’t just an event—it was a rally cry that echoed through 11 newspapers. With Lion Mahendra Singhi offering artificial limbs at discounted rates, 24 cricket teams joined the cause, adding Rs.55,000 more to the total.

Today, as the Leo Trophy celebrates its Rs.2.90-lakh-achievement, engagement with 3,000+ youth and a 10% membership increase, it’s not just about numbers; it’s about the first steps someone will take with their new prosthetic limb. It’s about young people discovering that changing the world starts with a single match, a single moment, a single movement.

That’s the real trophy they’re playing for.
