A New Year, A New Era for Lions
Dear Lions,
Over the years, Lionism has shown me that meaningful service begins when we notice a need and choose to respond with care, commitment and action. Whether it is helping a child see clearly, ensuring that a family has food on the table, bringing clean water to a village, or enabling a patient to receive timely treatment, our service creates real and lasting change in people’s lives.
International President Mark S. Lyon’s theme, “Rooted in Service,” reminds us of the purpose that unites every Lion: to serve our communities with compassion, dignity and responsibility. Our strength comes not only from the projects we undertake, but also from the values that guide us like fellowship, empathy, integrity and a readiness to stand beside those who need support.
As community needs continue to evolve, our service must evolve too. We must welcome new members, encourage younger voices and create meaningful opportunities for them to lead and contribute. By listening carefully to the communities we serve, working in partnership with local stakeholders and planning thoughtfully, we can ensure that our projects remain relevant, sustainable and beneficial long after they are inaugurated.
Sharing our service stories is equally important. Lion (India) is more than a record of club activities; it is a platform to demonstrate the human impact of Lions’ service. When we share these stories honestly and with sensitivity, we inspire more people to join us, strengthen the confidence of our partners and enable successful ideas to reach other clubs and communities.
No club serves in isolation. Every impactful initiative is strengthened by teamwork, public support, trusted partnerships and the confidence of the people we serve. Through LCIF, we are also able to extend the reach of local efforts and respond effectively when community needs exceed the capacity of a single club.
As we move forward in this Lions year, let us remain rooted in our shared commitment to service. May our experience guide us, our friendships unite us and our actions continue to bring hope, dignity and positive change to the communities we proudly call home.
Yours in service,
V. K. Ladia
