Compassion Amid Calamity
Lions Clubs of MD 318 Respond Swiftly During The Wayanad Landslides
Since 1975, Anganwadi Centres have served as the frontrunners in India’s fight against child malnutrition; providing essential care during a child’s formative years and supporting maternal health.
Understanding their crucial role in child development and community wellbeing, Agra Icons Lions Club of District 321C2 has launched an initiative to enhance Anganwadi centres in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri. Under the leadership of International Director Dr. Jitendra Singh Chauhan and District Governor Swati Mathur, the club is creating more effective spaces for learning and growth.
“Each Anganwadi centre we support becomes a space for children to learn and thrive,” says Club President Rishu Agarwal. The club has distributed 1,500 kits across multiple centres, benefitting 1,100 children. Each kit comprises:
- Educational materials and books for early literacy
- Whiteboards and maps for visual learning
- Tables and chairs for proper posture during activities
- Tricycles for physical development
- Educational blocks and toys for cognitive stimulation
Beyond equipment distribution, the club has adopted two Anganwadi centres for complete rehabilitation. Working alongside Anganwadi workers, Lions members support community health education and maternal care. Through this collaborative approach, the club ensures that these centres are equipped to effectively deliver what every child needs: early education, proper nutrition, and healthcare.
