Two Months. 1,400 Members. 20 New Clubs. MD 318 Raises the Bar

The visit of International President A. P. Singh to MD 318 set the stage for one of the most ambitious membership drives undertaken in the region—an effort that not only met its goal, but significantly exceeded it.

As part of MISSION 1.5, MD 318 launched an interim membership campaign from December 1, 2025 to February 1, 2026, with a clear and focused objective: to induct 1,000 new members at a single venue. To build momentum, a structured system of recognition was put in place—rewarding clubs, leaders, and individual members across multiple levels. Clubs reporting five or more members, those sponsoring new clubs, Region and Zone Chairpersons achieving defined targets, and individual Lions bringing in ten or more members were all acknowledged.

Even Past District Governors and Vice Governors contributing to new club formation were included, ensuring widespread participation.

The campaign was supported by strong planning and consistent follow-through. A core committee, led by Global Action Team Area Leader A. V. Vamana Kumar and Multiple Council Chairperson Rajan Namboothiri, oversaw the initiative. With promotional material reaching over 800 clubs across Kerala, weekly reviews and daily tracking kept the effort on course.

The results were striking.

At the mass induction event held on February 4, 2026, at Gokulam Convention Centre, Kochi, MD 318 reported the induction of 1,400 new members—along with the formation of 20 new Lions clubs. All six districts crossed the 200-member mark, earning special recognition. The occasion also honoured Lions who became Melvin Jones Fellows in January 2026.

International President A. P. Singh inducted the new members and inaugurated the new clubs, commending the leadership and coordination that drove the campaign.

MD 318 now ranks second among the 12 Multiple Districts in India in terms of percentage achievement of its recruitment target—and stands among the few where every sub-district has crossed 50 percent of its MISSION 1.5 goal.

The campaign has renewed energy across districts and clubs—demonstrating what aligned effort and clear intent can achieve.
