On May 11, 2024, Leos from District 317A and District 317E arrived at Karuna Animal Shelter in Bangalore with a shared mission. The sanctuary is dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of abandoned, injured and stray animals. The joint initiative aimed at supporting the shelter’s vital work with a donation drive.

United by their commitment to animal welfare and community service, the Leos combined resources to provide the shelter with carefully selected essential supplies. The supplies included medicines to aid in the treatment and recovery of injured animals, nutritious food to ensure the animals’ well-being and proper nourishment and cleaning materials to maintain the hygiene and safety of the shelter’s premises. Each item represented thoughtful planning and genuine care for the animals in the shelter.
As volunteers worked alongside shelter staff, stories emerged of personal connections to animal welfare. These conversations reinforced why such service matters—not just for the animals, but for the communities that benefit from compassionate action. The initiative demonstrated how Leos can address real needs while building meaningful partnerships across districts.

The event was marked by camaraderie, shared purpose, and the satisfaction of knowing that every contribution, no matter how small, made a meaningful difference. The experience reminded volunteers of their responsibility to care for those who cannot advocate for themselves.
The success of this joint donation drive has shown both districts what they can accomplish together. With shared resources and combined enthusiasm, Leo Districts 317A and 317E plan to collaborate on future service projects that address community needs.
