The recently-concluded Lions year saw the addition of 124 clubs and 12,681 new members by May 2024. This surge, however, was tempered by a loss of 4,083 members, which raised serious concerns.
Lions of the multiple decided to act, and quickly!
Motivated by International First Vice President A.P. Singh, the multiple formed an “Action Team for Restoration.” Led by International Director S. Magesh, the team included stalwarts like PID G. Ramaswamy, PID R. Sampath, and GAT Area Leader S.T. Srinivasan.
The team’s strategy focused on engaging local leaders through the DG team, GAT, Region Chairperson, Zone Chairperson, and Club Presidents. This grassroots approach proved effective, breathing new life into the membership drive.
A visit from International President Fabrício Oliveira added more momentum. His presence at the inauguration of new clubs energized the community, leading to the formation of 48 new Lions Clubs—surpassing the initial target of 35. The personal touch of receiving charters directly from the President inspired members and leaders alike.
Buoyed by this success, the MD 324 District Governor team made a bold commitment to establish 50 new clubs by September, during the All India GMT and GET Summit in Chennai. International First Vice President A.P. Singh has agreed to inaugurate these 50 new Lions Clubs, marking a significant milestone in the multiple’s growth.
The success of ‘restoration from recession’ stands is a testament to the power of targeted motivation and the impact of leadership engagement at all levels.
