On March 20, 2025 the Lions Seva Mandir at Mangalore came alive with vibrant discussions and passionate calls to service as the New Voices Symposium ‘Dhwani 2024-2025’ brought together emerging leaders and veteran Lions members in a celebration of community impact.
The highly anticipated event, organized by Chief District Coordinator – New Voices Vani Alva, demonstrated District 317D’s commitment to developing the next generation of service leaders. As she welcomed the diverse gathering of brilliant minds and accomplished individuals, Vani Alva underscored the objective of the event to inspire, educate, and empower the young adults to reach their full potential and become changemakers in our community.

District Governor B.M. Bharathi inaugurated the symposium with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, setting an inspiring tone with her opening address. In a touching moment that honored the organization’s legacy of service, the symposium team recognized two remarkable women—Lion Irene Pais and Lion Laxmi Nair—for their extraordinary three-decade commitment to Lionism.
PDG Kripa Alva, serving as Chief Guest, delivered a powerful keynote address that resonated deeply with the attendees. Her personal journey in Lionism shed light on the life-changing impact of service, challenging everyone present to reflect on their own potential to create positive change.
PMCC Vasanth Kumar Shetty followed with a compelling presentation that offered profound insights into the philosophy of service. Through vivid examples and personal experiences, he deepened the audience’s understanding of the Lions’ commitment to community and fellowship.
A major highlight of the symposium was the induction of ten new members. PDG Kavitha Shastri, serving as ceremonial officer, warmly welcomed these new members to the Lions family, as they received their membership pins amid enthusiastic applause.
