Lions’ Legacy of Service Shines During LCIF Chairperson’s India Tour

In a whirlwind tour of four multiple districts in India, LCIF Chairperson PIP Dr. Patti Hill experienced the breadth and depth of Lions' community service initiatives throughout the country. Here are highlights of her visit.

At an event honoring LCIF Chairperson PIP Dr. Patti Hill on July 12 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Mumbai, MD 3231 made a significant contribution to our Foundation. The multiple donated US$118,000 and pledged an additional US$194,000.

MD 317

Over 250 Lions attended the LCIF Conclave hosted by MD 317 to honor LCIF Chairperson PIP Dr. Patti Hill.

The event recognized 170 Lions for their MJF and PMJF contributions. Districts of the multiple collectively contributed US$177,779, demonstrating their strong commitment to the Foundation.

When in Mysore…

Embracing local traditions, PIP Dr. Patti Hill donned a Mysore Silk saree and the traditional Mysore peta to install the District 317G.

This nod to local culture highlighted the rich heritage of Mysore, known for its silk since the 18th century.

During her visit to the Lions Blood Centre, at Bangalore Lions Service Trust on July 18, Dr. Patti Hill inaugurated the SAXO Automated Cross-matching Machine.

Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech and Hearing, a life-changing permanent project of Bangalore East Lions Club (District 317E), has been providing rehabilitative services for over 45 years. Dr. Patti Hill visited the Institute and met the students.
She also visited the Bangalore West Lions Shri Vidyasagar Oswal Institute of Ophthalmology and inaugurated the 4th Free Diabetic Retinopathy Camp.

During her visit to District 322F, LCIF Chairperson PIP Dr. Patti Hill visited several permanent projects in Siliguri. At the NABH-accredited Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital, a project of Siliguri Greater Lions Club (District 322F), she interacted with over 35 patients in Unit 1 of the hospital and witnessed first-hand the sight-saving work being done here. 

Her itinerary included a stop at the Siliguri Terai Lions Blood Centre, a life-saving project of Siliguri Terai Lions Club. She also toured the Thalassemia Day Care Centre and expressed her appreciation for the services provided. She was particularly impressed by the Blood Centre, describing it as a “world-class” facility.

She also visited the Amarpati Lions Citizens Public School. The CBSE-affiliated school is an initiative of the Siliguri Citizens Lions Club.

At the banquet held in her honour, District 322F LCIF team presented Dr. Hill with a substantial contribution of $101,000 and recognized 75 new recipients of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Program. The team also pledged continued support in the new Lionistic Year.

MD 318

LCIF Chairperson PIP Dr. Patti Hill’s three-day tour of District 318C showcased various Lions’ community service initiatives. At the Lions Eye Hospital in Ernakulam, she inaugurated two new projects: a Community Kitchen set to distribute 1,000 meals daily, and a Dialysis Centre equipped to offer 600 free sessions monthly.

The Multiple 318 LCIF Conclave, hosted by District 318C, saw an impressive commitment of US$250,000 from Multiple 318, with District 318C alone pledging US$110,000. In her address, Dr. Hill emphasized the crucial link between membership growth and sustainable global service efforts.

In Kothamangalam, Dr. Hill visited the Lions Village, where 20 houses were built for underprivileged families to mark the Kothamangalam Lions Club’s golden jubilee.

Throughout her visit, Dr. Hill engaged with Lions members, recognizing their achievements and inspiring future community support initiatives.
