In the classrooms of Jaipur’s government schools, nearly 700 students now see their teachers, books – and their futures – with newfound clarity. This is a happy outcome of the eye screening and spectacles distribution initiative of Jaipur Metro Lions Club, District 3233-E1. The initiative began with a simple question: How many children struggle to learn simply because they cannot see clearly?

The answer emerged as vision camps were conducted by the club across seven government schools including S. J. School, S.M.D. Balika School, and institutions in Gandhinagar, Muralipura, Bais Godam, Telipada, and C-Scheme areas.
Despite challenges posed by seasonal school closures due to heavy monsoons and winter cold waves, the club successfully screened 4,261 students and distributed 697 pairs of spectacles worth ₹1.50 lakhs.
“Seeing these children receive clear vision for perhaps the first time is deeply moving,” shared Avinash Vyas, who along with Nirmal Jain took the lead in organizing the camps and coordinating logistics. Supporting them were C.K. Bafna, PMCC Govind Sharma, Club Secretary Vimal Golchha and Club Treasurer Anil Jain.

The program leveraged both professional expertise and corporate partnerships. Club member Vinod Bhargava, a technically trained optician and owner of a spectacles shop, volunteered his services. Vinod Agrawal and Anandi Nahar played a key role in securing vital CSR funding from HG Infra Limited for 1,000 pairs of spectacles. The company has pledged ongoing support, ensuring sustainability for this essential service.
Looking ahead, club members are preparing to expand their impact dramatically in the upcoming academic session, setting an ambitious target of screening 15,000 students — more than tripling their current reach.
